We made this super simple and delicious dish recently using a rice cooker, and we absolutely loved it. The flavors from the chicken gets soaked up into the rice to create a very homey and yummy dish. All you need is a trusty rice cooker and this comfort dish is yours!
8. Ikan Bakar
Yes, it IS possible to make Ikan Bakar (Malaysian Grilled Fish) indoors. With this easy recipe, you don’t have to queue up and wait at Bazaars for your Ikan Bakar anymore! Tip: To make it easier for you to wrap the fish in the banana leaf, lightly heat the leaf up over your stove fire until it softens.
9. Ayam Goreng Kunyit
A well balanced dish, this Ayam Goreng Kunyit dish is basically chicken pieces that are coated with turmeric powder and salt and deep fried until golden brown (yum). Serve this along with vegetables, rice and Malaysian Sambal Belacan and you have a perfect family meal!
10. Laksa Sarawak
Last but not least, it is our all time favourite Sarawak Laksa. It takes about 3 hours overall to make this dish so we would recommend to attempt over a weekend after you have sourced for all the ingredients you need for this flavourful bowl of Laksa. Tip: Paste can be made in advance and kept in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
