PASTA LA VISTA, BABY!
Pasta. It comes in all different shapes and sizes, and everybody loves them. Don’t you wish you were a pasta too?
Looking for a place to get your pasta fix? Or perhaps just to get your Lady & The Tramp moment going?
I’ve got you covered! I’ve listed down some of my favourite places to get my pasta fix and I think you’re gonna love them just as much as I do!
1. SASSOROSSO.

This charming Italian restaurant has been around in Kuala Lumpur for the past decade and has not been short of blowing my mind. Sassorosso is located along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng and is pretty easy to spot. The authenticity to their dishes hits the right spot. They are known for their classy and elegant fine dining experience. With a view of the beautiful Twin Towers in the background while you savor your delicious meal, this place is definitely a perfect place for a romantic dinner with your other half.
If you’re planning on splurging a little, a pasta that’s a total hit would be their Lobster Spaghetti!
2. La Risata

With its super cozy ambiance and casual dining feel, La Risata has to be one of my top restaurant picks for getting my pasta fix.
It’s been around for quite some time now, opening it’s doors to customers in the early year of 1996. They have 2 locations, one located in Ampang and the other in Medan Damansara. They are known for their authentic Italian cuisine ranging from their traditional wood-fired oven thin & crispy pizza, to their pastas that are no short of mind blowing. Every single of our their dishes exude the very essence of Italian dining – rustic, hearty and good.
3. Portofino

Those who tend to roam around Bangsar alot will be familiar with this place. Located in a prominent corner shop in Lucky Garden, this Italian Restaurant is pretty easy to spot. They’ve also recently expanded their business to include Portofino in Bangsar South. The pricing at Portofino is reasonable considering the location. The service and quality of food has been consistent in my frequent visits here. A sure thing at Portofino is that all the pastas are homemade. Once you have a taste of their home made pasta, it’s going to be hard for you to get back to those pre-packed pastas. Portofino serves up to 14 types of homemade fresh pastas such as lasagna, cannelloni, ravioli, pappardelle, gnocchi and tortellini; all made from scratch by the Italian chef.
4. Upstairs Cafe

This one’s a cheaper alternative to the other restaurants. It’s somewhere I usually head to with my friends when we’re looking for a place to hangout and have a meal. The cozy interior to this cafe is as inviting as the food is. Located in SS12, just opposite Subang Jaya Medical Center, this cafe is always bustling from youngsters to families looking to get their coffee fix.
This little cafe is popular for their coffee and scrumptious desserts. But many do not know about their delicious pastas! My personal favorite is their Arrabiatta Spaghetti. This vegetarian dish is made up of a spicy tomato paste and served with mushrooms and broccoli. The hint of spiciness is what gets to me all the time.
5. Via Pre KL
Via Pre Restaurant first opened its doors in Geogetown, Penang and later on opened up another establishment in Bukit Damansara. The casual concept and good music playing that is always in the background is definitely a plus in my books. The service there is good too, with the waiters and waitresses always smiling, cheerful and their overall friendly demeanor that kept us at ease at all times.
My go-to pasta at Via Pre will have to be their Aglio Olio, as basic as that sounds, their Aglio Olio is surprisingly different from the rest! They incorporate Bottarga in this dish. Which makes it have this distinctive flavor. It’s made up of whole-wheat spaghetti that’s perfectly cooked al dante, just the way it should be.
