Ili’s Top 5 Chicken Recipes to Cook For Merdeka & Raya Haji Celebration Pin It

Dear Chicken Lovers all over the country or even the world! Here is my selection of the top 5 Malaysian Chicken Recipe that you can cook during the celebration of our country’s Independence Day and Hari Raya Aidiladha weekend.

  • Malaysian Chicken Curry
  • Ayam Goreng Berempah
  • One Pot Roast Chicken
  • 5 Spice Roast Chicken Medallion
  • Chicken Tikka Masala

These 5 chicken recipe are very significant and interesting as most Malaysians love chicken. Also, these are the foods that show what is unique about Malaysia and it’s foods. Here are the recipes for you to try and trust me, your family and friends will love you (more) for this….you’re welcome 😉

Malaysian Chicken Curry

A good chicken curry needs two things!

  1. Use chicken on the bone as it adds flavor to the broth
  2. Take your time when you are cooking the spices and use a low to medium fire..

Ayam Goreng Berempah (Fried Chicken with Spices)

Psssst…the trick to make your fried chicken crispy is to ensure you clean and pat dry your chicken before you start the marinating process. This along with the combination of starch (in this case I am using corn flour), the dry spices (or dry rub which I am using some Indian curry powder and turmeric) and the wet marinate (ground onion, garlic and lemongrass). You are almost guaranteed a crispy, aromatic and beautifully golden brown crust/skin. The trick to make your chicken juicy on the inside is to make sure your oil is hot (at least 185c) and to place your chicken at a high heat for the first 3 – 5 minutes. Then, bring it down to about 165c (for the remaining of 5 – 6 minutes) so it cooks the inside without burning the chicken.

One Pot Roast Chicken

Similarly, with the Ayam Goreng Rempah, pat your chicken down dry before marinating. It really Really makes your chicken skin brown and crispy

5 Spice Roast Chicken Medallions

A tip when using Chinese 5 spice, a little goes a long way!

Chicken Tikka Masala

Similarly with all curries, take your time cooking the curry and cook use a small to medium heat.

That’s a wrap! Those are some simple and ‘Not-Complicated’ chicken dishes to make for your family and friends. I love making them and I hope you guys do too. Enjoy! Have a wonderful Merdeka Day and Selamat Hari Raya Haji to all!
