
Chicken Shawarma

Description
Shawarma is a popular Middle Eastern dish which is a wrap consisting of meat cut into thin slices along with some fresh salads and garlic sauce dressing.
Ingredients
Marinate:
2kg Chicken Thighs
1 cup Yogurt
7 Garlic Cloves
Juice and Zest of a Lemon
2 Tbsp Vinegar
1 Tbsp Chili Powder
2 Tsp Turmeric
2 Tsp Ginger Powder
2 Tsp Onion Powder
1 Tbsp Paprika
2 Tsp Sugar
1 Tbsp Salt
Garlic Sauce:
140g Garlic
1 Tsp Salt
2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
515ml Oil
Salad mix:
Sliced Cabbage
Sliced Carrot
Pickle Cucumber
Other Ingredients:
Ready-made wrap
Satay sticks
Sliced onion
Sliced tomatoes
Instructions
- Cut the chicken into a desired size and put it in a bowl to marinate. Add all the marinade ingredients into the bowl and mix it well with the chicken. Make sure the chicken is fully coated. Let the chicken rest overnight in the fridge for better taste or you can even use it straight away.
- Poke the marinated chicken, sliced onion, and tomatoes alternatively on the satay stick. Once done, place it in a baking tray. Cook the chicken in a preheated oven at 190C for 30 minutes or until it’s fully cooked.
- To make the garlic sauce, add garlic, salt, and lemon juice to the blender. Blend it well. Slowly drizzle the oil while blending until becomes a thick sauce consistency.
- Let’s assemble the shawarma, spread some garlic sauce and sriracha if want some spice on the wrap. Add in some chicken, and mixed salad, and wrap it. There you have it, delicious and flavourful chicken shawarma.
